Howdy Manco!!

The late great William Windom was a trained Broadway stage actor, long before he ever showed up in film. When he did make his film debut, it was in 1949, on t.v. shows like the Goodyear, Philco show and Masterpiece theater etc. Windom appeared on Cheyenne, Combat, The Donna Reed show, which led to his co-starring role in the series , The Farmer's Daughter with the beautiful Inger Stevens and next up was the series, My World And Welcome To It, for which he won an Emmy Award. Along the way, he appeared in To Kill A Mockingbird with Gregory Peck and Cattle King With Robert Taylor. Much of the remainder of his long career was spent in television. From the late 60's into the 21St century, Windom appeared on almost every series on t.v., including Wild Wild West, Kojak, Love American Style, and literally hundreds of others. He became a regular on Angela Lansbury's long running t.v. series, 1985-1996, Murder, She Wrote as her friend, .Dr Seth Hazlitt. Even though he had been an actor for well over 50 years, Windom continued acting through 2006, in a career that spanned 57 years in film. He was one of the most prolific actors ever and his resume proves it. William Windom died August 12, 2012, at the age of 88, from heart failure.

Frank Latimore began his film career in 1944 and during the 40's, was a romantic leading man appearing in such films as, In The Meantime, Darling, The Razor's Edge and 13 Rue Madeliene. After the 40's, Latimore moved to Europe and began another career abroad, appearing in, At Swords Edge, The Mysterious Swordsman, Shades Of Zorro and many more. From the late 60's through 1978, Latimore acted both in European films and also appeared in several U.S. films of note, such as Patton, All The President's Men and was even a regular on the 1975-1976 t.v. series, Ryan's Hope as .Dr Coleridge. Latimore retired from acting in 1978.

Ed, you forgot to mention William Windom's role as Commodore Decker, commander of the USS Constellation, who was the last survivor of that ship after he sent his crew to their deaths in the Star Trek episode The Doomsday Machine.

Also on Sept. 28:

Robert Wolders (1936-) was an actor from Holland in the 1960s and early '70s, best known for his role as Erik Hunter (and his outlandish suits!) on the 2nd season of Laredo. He gave up acting in 1975. He was married to actress Merle Oberon (25 years his senior) from1975 until her death in 1979. He was a companion to Audrey Hepburn for 1980 until her death in 1993, and later with Leslie Caron from 1994 to 1995.

Robert Hogan (1936-) appeared in a boatload of TV shows from the late 1950s to the present. He played the role of Rev. Tom Winter on Peyton Place, and also appeared in episodes of Cheyenne, Bronco, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, MASH, The FBI, and Law and Order, to name a few.

Joel Higgins (1943-) may not be a household name, but he played the sheriff in the TV movie Cat Balou (not to confused with the Lee Marvin/Jane Fonda film), and Marshall Sam Best on Best of the West. He's probably best know for playing Ricky Schroder's dad on Silver Spoons.
