Howdy Manco!!

Pard, what is there left to be said about Edgar Buchanan. The consumate supporting actor, on a par with Strother Martin. He appeared as a regular on at least 3 t.v. series I can think of, Petticoat Junction, Green Acres and the Beverly Hillbillies and all as the same character Uncle Joe Carson!! He appeared with all of the Hollywood greats, in one film or another. Henry Fonda in Welcome To Hard Times, John Wayne in McClintock and The Undefeated, Doris Day in Move over, Darling, Glenn Ford in The Rounders, Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea in Ride The High Country and the list goes on and on. When Hollywood casting directors needed an actor to make a character believable, they went looking for Edgar Buchanan!!!!!!!!!

Wendell Corey was another excellent supporting actor, who I best remember from Rear Window with Jimmy Stewart, The Big Knife with Jack Palance and The Rainmaker with Burt Lancaster and Katherine Hepburn. He also appeared in Loving You with Elvis Pressley and Lisabeth Scott.

I remember Karen Steele from Marty, Ride Lonesome and Westbound with Randolph Scott and Virginia Mayo. She also appeared as Eve in the episode Mudd's Women, on the original Star Trek t.v. series. She was one of the most beautiful women, I've ever seen!! She was far more beautiful than Virginia Mayo, who was the female lead in Westbound. She died at the young age of 57 in Kingman Arizona, from a diabetic coma.

Ed

Edgar Buchanan was also wonderful as Hopalong Cassidy's sidekick on the Hopalong Cassidy TV Show. Buchanan became part of the TV Show after the first 13 episodes were broadcast, which were edited version of Hoppy Movies. Edgar just had that certain "fit in" quality that made him a delight no matter what film or TV Show he was in. Bullfrog Bill
